Materials from this class presented a lot of different points of views, which helped me to widen my knowledge and open my mind.

Course description: “Students become peer leaders in a university environment, across all disciplines. Concurrent experience required serving as a peer leader.”
This course was really interesting and it really broaden my knowledge of leadership practices. I became familiar with Five Leadership Practices, which helped me understand my team better and made me realize how important the leader’s role in the team is. The course required working with a supervisor who was helping me throughout the whole semester and taught me a lot about being a great leader I always wanted to be. I realized that all of Five Leadership Practices: Model the Way, Inspire the Shared Vision, Challenge the Process, Enable Other to Act and Encourage the Heart are really important in the leadership experience. This course made me reflect on what I was doing as a leader and helped me realize what are my strengths and weaknesses.

Problems of particular note to be covered by this specific course include terrorism, crime, alcohol and drugs, inequality, sexism, racism, education, and health.”
As a social part of my minor, I took SOC 2004 online. This course made me realize how big the social problems are, and also presented some interesting facts about them. We are all aware of problems such as terrorism, sexism or inequality, but we don’t think about these issues every day. This course brought me to reflect on them and helped me understand them deeper. The course brought to my attention new perspectives and a better understanding of today’s world. Material presented some statistics and numbers that I will never forget and it also explained why all people around the world have to deal with similar issues.

As an international student, I found this course really interesting and helpful. After taking this course, I had a deeper understanding of the multicultural and interpersonal interactions between people. It was a challenging course that required thinking outside the boxes and some philosophy. This course helped me understand the rules of communication processes and cultural differences. It explained in the simple words the schemes of interactions between people and people’s behaviors in certain situations.

WGS 1824: Introduction to Women’s Studies
Course description: “Course is structured in order to raise a series of questions about gender and society, with particular attention to women’s lives, and to introduce students to Women’s and Gender Studies as a discipline. Through reading, exercises, writing, and discussion, we will examine how we all learn and experience gender, the diverse ways in which women experience marginalization in the context of the intersections of class, gender, race, and sexuality, and the historical development of feminism and Women’s Studies.”
This was probably one of the most interesting course I have taken during my time at Virginia Tech. The ideas and concepts about the world presented in this course were different and really objective. This course has broadened my perspective on some issues from the very first lecture and opened my mind to different ways of thinking. This course presents feminist points of view, but at the same time, it didn’t force students to think the same way. It showed different ideas about the world, as well as the women’s role and position in it. The material and ideas were always supported by facts and thoughtful arguments, which forced me to deeper and creative thinking.
